How should the welder glove be?

Welder glove specifications are determined according to EN 12477:2001 standards. This standard describes how gloves should be designed for welding and similar work. Since the protection required by welders varies according to the type of welding, the performance expected from gloves is also different.

Two types of protective gloves are defined in EN 12477 standard for welder gloves:

Type A: Provides higher protection against heat. Low flexibility, dexterity is of secondary importance in these gloves and heat protection is of primary importance. Type A gloves are used for general welding and cutting operations.
TIP B: Less protection against heat. High flexibility and manual dexterity are emphasised. For tungsten gas arc welding, for example, (TIG) Type B is recommended.
In addition to these two types, welder gloves that require electrical insulation must comply with EN 1149-2 standard. For abrasion, tear, puncture and cut resistance, it is necessary to use gloves in accordance with EN 388 standard; for contact temperature and metal splash resistance, it is necessary to use gloves in accordance with EN 420 standards.
Welder gloves should protect the hands of the welder from electric shock, excessive heat or infrared radiation. They should also have high gripping properties. Since the welding process takes place very close to the hand, the designs of the welder gloves are detailed and specialised. In addition to the palm and finger structure reinforced against sparks and heat, some also have a lining.
Natural leathers such as deerskin, cowhide, goatskin or synthetic Kevlar are used for welding gloves. Gloves made of leather are ideal for TIG welding. Especially goatskin gloves are frequently used for TIG welding as they provide a good grip. Welder gloves made of striped goat or cow leather are suitable for both TIG and MIG welding.
In the Leather Gloves category of Beybi Shop, you can see the types of welder gloves made of first class leather. For example KYN-01 Eco Welder Gloves are made of goat leather. It has a safety wristband. Suitable for welding and assembly works. ARG-01 Argon Welder Glove also provides protection in welding works with its structure consisting of goatskin and split leather. Both types of gloves comply with EN 388 and EN 420 standards. You can find more options at Beybi Shop.
